Zum 60-jährigen Jubiläum der unverwüstlichen Dutch Swing College Band spielte diese holländische Jazzformation eine neue CD ein. Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball und Papa Bue waren die Gäste an der Session vom 29./30.3.2005, während Chris Barber seinen Part am 25. April 2005 einspielte.

Die Aufnahmen mit Chris Barber umfassen die beiden Titel "Bourbon Street Parade" und "Willie the Wheeper". Meines Wissens ist dies das erste Mal, dass ein Tonträger mit der DSC Band und Chris Barber veröffentlicht worden ist, obwohl beide Bands teilweise gemeinsam auf Tournee sind.

Die ersten 8 Stücke werden von der "normalen" DSC Band gespielt. Anschliessend folgen

- mit Kenny Ball: I love you, Samantha / Jazz Band Ball
- mit Chris Barber: Bourbon Street / Willie the wheeper
- mit Papa Bue und Acker Bilk: Blues for Jimmie

Der Schluss wird durch alle Musiker (mit Ausnahme von Chris Barber) bestritten:
- Muskrat Ramble
- Way down yonder in New Orleans

Eine interessante CD sowohl für DSC Fans als auch für Liebhaber der englischen Musiker (und natürlich auch von Papa Bue)

A new CD has been produced on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the famous Dutch Swing College Band. The CD features not only the regular DSC Band, but also Chris Barber, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, and Papa Bue. These guests played their sessions on 29./30.3.2005, while Chris Barber dubbed his trombone parts on April 25.

Chris Barber is featured on "Bourbon Street Parade" and "Willie the Weeper".

As far as I know it is his first recording together with the Dutch Swing College Band despite the fact that both bands are often on tour together.

The first eight tunes feature the "ordinary" Dutch Swing College Band", followed by Acker Bilk (Creole Jazz / Memphis Blues), Kenny Ball (I Love You Samantha / Jazz Band Ball), Chris Barber (Bourbon Street / Willie the Weeper), and Papa Bue & Acker Bilk (Blues for Jimmie). The last two tunes (Muskrat Ramble / Way Down Yonder in New Orleans) feature the DSC Band plus all the guests, with the exception of Chris Barber.

This is a very interesting CD not only for DSC Band fans, but also for fans of the English musicians (and, of course, Denmark's Papa Bue).
