Endlich! Die drei
wichtigsten Konzerte aus der Zeit von 1959 - 1961 der Chris Barber Jazz Band auf
einer Doppel-CD.
|
At
last! The three most important recordings of the period 1959-1961 of the Chris
Barber Jazz Band on a double CD album.. The first CD starts with the seven tracks of the fantastic Berlin Concert, a must for every Barber Collector and a milestone in the Band's life. Due to technical reasons the wonderful tune "Whats' I'm gotcha" does not contain the great Chris Barber trombone solo. Lucky that person who owns the original Columbia LP, despite the fact, that this tune goes over two sides and still is not complete! Then follows the reissue of a very rare item: Chris Barber in Copenhagen 1960. Lot's of collectors have been waiting for years for this reissue, as the CD contains a few tunes that have not been played by the band for a long time, e.g. Market Street Stomp, Margie, Soudan and Beautiful Dreamer. Great concert and the band in a fantastic mood. The London Palladium Concert of 1961 is again a reissue, but this time the CD contains all tracks! This was not the case on the first reissue (The Classic Concerts Berlin & London 1959/61, CBJBCD- 4002). The 2nd CD ends up with two bonus tracks from a concert of 1958, recorded at the Dome, Brighton. The CD comes with a 8 page booklet with further information. Thanks again to Paul Adams who did again a great work for Barber fans and collectors. Andreas Wandfluh, 2.3.2005 |
